Indian Creek School District in Wintersville, OH receives Go Green Innovation Award.

ndian Creek School District, located in Wintersville, Ohio provides K-12 education to a student population of approximately 2.225 students distributed among 4 Primary Schools, 1 Junior High School, and 1 Senior High School. NComputing's cost effective solution has allowed Indian Creek to replace classroom computers in every elementary school and upgrade computer labs, providing more than 500 virtual desktops, while also reducing e-waste and energy consumption. The results are incredible and the benefits of NComputing’s desktop virtualization have impacted both the end-users and IT staff. For instance, four times as many classroom workstations have been provided for the same money at a fraction of the support costs, resulting in a 75% reduction in computer hardware and maintenance costs. In addition the adoption of green desktop virtualization technology has created a more engaged and innovative learning environment for both the students and teachers.

Indian Creek has ongoing plans to deploy an additional 400 NComputing virtual desktops in classrooms and computer labs throughout the Junior High School and Senior High School.

The Education Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV) in Istanbul, Turkey Receives Go Green Innovation Award.

TEGV has evolved to be Turkey’s most widespread Non-Governmental Organization operating in the field of Education. NComputing has provided TEGV with a solution that addresses its infrastructure issues, reduced time spent on maintenance issues, and offers significant savings in operating and capital costs. For instance since the deployment of the NComputing desktop virtualization solution, TEGV has calculated a 77% reduction in energy consumption resulting in significant electricity cost savings. In addition, the NComputing solution has created a greener institution for TEGV, simultaneously cutting costs and achieving environmental goals. The extended use of green technologies at TEGV is driving awareness to the students regarding the benefits derived from an eco-friendly lab.

TEGV has future plans to extend the use of NComputing technology to its Education Parks, Learning Units, and Mobile Learning Environments throughout Turkey.

Amity University in India and North Kingtown School District in Rhode Island Receives Go Green Innovation Award

NComputing is pleased to announce Amity University and North Kingstown School District as the April 2011 Go Green Award winners! The competition was fierce but both of these deployments have proven to be exceptional, standing apart from the many inquiries we received.

NComputing virtual desktops has provided Amity University with a flexible and cost effective solution that addresses it's network efficiency, maintenance, and energy costs while running multiple workstations. Amity University has future plans to replace all outdated and obsolete PC desktops with NComputing devices.

NComputing virtual desktops has provided North Kingstown School District with a solution to address its infrastructure challenges including ease of management and significant savings in operating and capital expenses. In addition the reduction in energy consumption has also reduced the heat and noise, keeping the rooms cool without the need for additional air conditioning.

Zubabox - Computer Aid International

In 2010, Computer Aid International established a solar-powered cyber café called ZubaBox in Zambia as part of the organization’s efforts to increase information technology access in rural areas of developing countries. Computer Aid sought to identify low-power equipment that was compatible with solar power as a solution to the inherent infrastructure challenges Zambia faced. After extensive product professional testing, Computer Aid identified NComputing as the preferred solution. The NComputing solution is secure, easy to set up and a proven viable alternative to reduce hardware costs, power consumption, and required maintenance compared to the use of traditional desktop PCs.

The ZubaBox is an innovative concept and Computer Aid International has plans to create additional cyber cafes in sub-Saharan Africa by year-end. At this juncture, Computer Aid International has begun expanding their initiative and establishing partnerships with developmental organizations, governments, schools, and universities to provide more communities across the region with affordable low-energy Internet and IT access.   Download and read the Zubabox success story
